Leather Satchel
A leather satchel is worn across the body
with the help of a strap with the bag hanging at one end. It is used to carry
books, documents etc.
It can be used to carry
your daily stuff. It can be in vintage brown or black leather, may be with
initials embossed or embroidered. You can have a satchel with internal pockets,
side or front pockets with handles, buckles, brass fittings and clips. It is a unisex piece of leather and can be
used by both sexes. Satchel has a soft side to it.
This piece of leather
bag dates back to Roman times. It was used to store personal stuff and food
rations. Romans called it loculus – little place. It is used to store
essentials and keep them safe but it is rarely used to carry books. After
Shakespeare mentioned in As you Like it. It is easy to buy a bunch bag
for school and university. Shakespeare even refers to a ‘whining school-boy,
with his satchel’ in his play ‘As You Like It’ but it wasn’t until the 50’s and
60’s leather satchel became a staple for British children. This bag can be
called a classic.
The vintage collection combines British style
with traditional leather making processes deep rooted in Indian culture. The
satchel can be in neutral colors but you can add colors to keep the bags
looking interesting.
The typical satchel seen at Oxfrod and
Cambridge has s simple front flap. There are variations to the bag which
includes a single or double pockets maybe on top of the bag.
The bag had two straps which allowed it to be carried like a backpack.
